- Camino Real Camp, Chagres National Park
Located inside the Chagres National Park and The Alajuela Lake is the ancient Camino Real. The same road used by the Spaniards Conquerors of the Incas and most natives American’s lands. Almost all the gold from South America (Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia and Colombia) crosses this Camino Real on its way to Europe.
To get there, turn off the Inter-American Highway shortly after San Carlos and head up into the hills. After 40 minutes or so you will catch your first glimpse of the valley spread out far below you, ringed by steep hills.
